On March 18, Gabon fully paid its debt to the World Bank, which amounted to US$29.8 million, the Gabonese government announced in a press release.
This action demonstrates Libreville's commitment to honoring its obligations to donors by reducing the heavy debt burden that had been inherited from the previous administration, as stated by the Ministry of Public Accounts.
The institution had suspended disbursements to Gabon due to the accumulated unpaid debts. The payment will enable the country to return to the list of beneficiaries of World Bank financial support.
