Israel has violated the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip hundreds of times, Hamas political office member Basem Naim told Sputnik.
"We were committed to the agreement and fulfilled our obligations under this agreement, but [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu and his government violated it hundreds of times, committed murders, closed border crossings, and prohibited the entry of humanitarian aid," the Hamas official said.
The escalation of the conflict in the Gaza Strip, which has led to human losses among Palestinians, is also endangering the lives of Israeli hostages, Naim added.
"It is a dangerous escalation, which has led to material and human losses among Palestinians, but it does not exclude Israeli hostages in the Gaza Strip too and will put their lives in danger," he noted.
On Tuesday, the Israel Defense Forces said that it was carrying out massive airstrikes on Palestinian movement Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office said that the country had resumed attacks on the Gaza Strip in response to Hamas' refusal to accept the US plan to extend the ceasefire regime and continue the release of hostages.
