The President of the Interim Regional Administration of Tigray, Getachew Reda, has called on all stakeholders to take necessary measures to prevent the region from descending into unnecessary chaos and war.
In a statement delivered in Addis Ababa today, Getachew Reda accused a faction of the Tigray People's Liberation Front, which has lost legal recognition in the region, of trying to destabilize Tigray. He alleged that the group is illegally seizing administrative seals at various levels, including kebele, woreda, and zonal institutions, in an attempt to undermine the interim administration.
Despite these concerns, he stated that the interim administration has not yet requested federal intervention. However, he emphasized that the federal government must take responsibility for ensuring that Tigray does not return to war.
The interim administration has urged the people of Tigray, the federal government, and the international community to take appropriate measures to prevent further instability in the region, according to local media reports.
