Police in Kenya’s Uasin Gishu County have launched investigations after discovering an illegally established police patrol base in Cherus Centre, Kesses Sub-County, local media reported.
The unauthorized station was set up by a man identified as Collins Leitich, alias Chepkulei, without the knowledge or approval of the National Police Service.
Leitich painted the building in official police colors, giving the impression of a legitimate security post. Shocked residents, who believed the base was a genuine initiative to enhance security, were surprised to learn of its illegitimacy, according to the reports.
Authorities are still trying to determine the suspect’s motive but have assured the public that appropriate action will be taken as investigations continue.
