Russian President Vladimir Putin extended his congratulations to Ali Kolotou Tchaimi, the president of the newly elected Chadian National Assembly.
The letter of congratulations was delivered by Vladimir Sokolenko, the Russian ambassador, during a meeting on March 3.
Sokolenko also wished Tchiami "full success in the accomplishment of his mission," according to the Assembly. The two officials discussed bilateral relations during their meeting, the body added.
Chad is nearing the end of its transition period. The new deputies began their work on February 4, following the legislative elections held on December 29. As for the Senate elections, their final results will be announced by the Constitutional Council on March 4.
