US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, in a CNN interview, called the meeting between Volodymyr Zelensky and US President Donald Trump at the White House a "fiasco," calling on Zelensky to apologize.
"[Zelensky must] apologize for turning this thing into the fiasco for him that it became," Rubio pointed out.
There was no need for Zelensky to go to the White House and become antagonistic, the US state secretary noted, also assuming that Zelensky does not actually want peace in Ukraine, despite his statements to the contrary.
Talks between Ukraine's Volodymyr Zelensky and Trump regarding the peace settlement in Ukraine ended in failure on Friday after a spat in the Oval Office. Trump's senior officials asked the Ukrainian delegation to leave the White House and canceled a joint press conference.
Trump also called off the signing of the rare earth minerals deal with Zelensky that was already ratified by the Ukrainian government.
Moreover, Trump is reportedly no longer interested in resuming discussions with Ukraine on a minerals deal, a Western media outlet reported, citing a White House official.
