Last Sunday, Sudan's paramilitary Rapid Support Forces and its allies signed a charter in Kenya to establish a rival "government of peace and unity" in rebel-controlled areas, and announced a plan to create a "new, unified, professional, national army," while dissolving existing forces, including the current Sudanese army.

Saudi Arabia condemned the Sudanese RSF paramilitaries' move to form a parallel government, the Foreign Ministry said on Friday.

"The Foreign Ministry expresses Saudi Arabia's rejection of any illegitimate steps or measures taken outside the framework of the Republic of Sudan's official institutions that may affect its unity and do not reflect the will of its people, including the call to form a parallel government," read the statement.

The kingdom reiterated its support for Sudan's security, stability and territorial integrity; urged the combatants to put national interests before factional ones, and pledged to continue its efforts to end the conflict.

Meanwhile, Qatar and Kuwait on Friday also rejected plans for a parallel government in Sudan, joining regional opposition to a move by the RSF movement and its allies to set up a rival administration.

"Qatar expresses its full support for the unity, independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the sisterly Sudan, and its rejection of any form of interference in its internal affairs. [The ministry] renews Qatar's call for a comprehensive dialogue that leads to sustainable peace, preserves Sudan's unity, and achieves the aspirations of its people for security, stability, and development," read the statement from the Qatari diplomacy.

Kuwait's Foreign Ministry also rejected any action taken outside Sudan's official institutions, describing them as "interference in the Sudanese internal affairs and a threat to the unity of its territories."

As for the response of the Sudanese authorities, last Monday, the Foreign Ministry condemned Kenya's support for "the parallel government that the genocidal militia and its followers intend to declare in some of the remaining pockets."

The Sudanese diplomacy criticized the move as a dangerous precedent that violates the United Nations Charter and the principles of the African Union and poses a serious threat to regional peace and security.

"The ministry reiterates its call to international and regional organizations, as well as to all nations, to reject the said dangerous course of action followed by the Kenyan presidency, which not only jeopardizes regional peace and security but also constitutes a blatant violation of Sudan's sovereignty," said the statement.

In August, international mediators led by Saudi Arabia and the US attempted to broker a ceasefire in Sudan at talks in Swiss Geneva, to which both sides in the conflict were invited. However, only RSF sent a delegation, while the Sudanese armed forces participated remotely.
