Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov has asked his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan to engage with Kiev to prevent further attacks at the Russian compressor station that is part of the TurkStream gas link, which pumps gas to Europe via Turkey, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Saturday.
"The minister strongly urged his Turkish colleague to use the opportunities available to Ankara in working with Kiev to prevent further attempts by the Kiev regime to launch terrorist attacks against civilian infrastructure," the ministry said following a phone conversation between Lavrov and Hakan.
The top Turkish diplomat assured Lavrov that necessary measures would be taken, the ministry added.
According to the Russian defense ministry, the Russkaya compressor station, which was targeted by Ukrainian drones on Friday night, is now operating normally and supplying gas to the TurkStream pipeline.
