A few hours before the talks between the leaders of Russia and Guinea-Bissau, Alexander Kozlov, the Russian Minister of Natural Resources, and his Guinea-Bissau counterpart Malam Sambu signed a memorandum of cooperation in the field of geology and subsoil use in Moscow.
The agreement outlines the cooperation between the two countries at these levels:
Conduct geological exploration;
Study and develop mineral resources;
Assess reserves;
Develop projects to exploit deposits;
Conduct laboratory research;
Assist in certification.
"Data indicate the existence of bauxite and phosphate deposits on the territory of the Republic," said Kozlov.
Moscow can also provide support in the study of solid minerals and hydrocarbons, he argued.
Guinea-Bissau wants cooperation to be established quickly, as this will lead to job creation, added Sambu.
