Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa affirmed the country's progress towards industrialization at the groundbreaking ceremony for the Palm River Energy Project in Beitbridge.
He cited growing investor confidence in the government's development plans and re-engagement policies. This confidence, he said, has led to an increase in investment in the infrastructure, mining and energy sectors.
Mnangagwa emphasized the importance of industrial development and value addition in driving Zimbabwe's economic growth. He also highlighted the critical role of the mining sector in the country's economic development.
The president noted that mining can create jobs and have a positive impact on local communities. He also noted that mining investment can help improve infrastructure such as roads, schools and health facilities.
Neitbridge is the site of Zimbabwe's Energy Metallurgical Special Economic Zone and Industrial Park, a $3.6 billion project being developed in partnership with a Chinese company.
