Sputnik Africa is live as Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov holds a press conference following the third plenary session of the G20 Foreign Ministers Meeting.
On Friday, Sergey Lavrov spoke at the G20 Ministerial Meeting on "G20 Challenges in 2025: Discussing the planned outcomes of the South African Presidency and reviewing the forum's activities."
"The modern world is fundamentally transforming and becoming truly multipolar. The five hundred years of Western dominance are irrevocably gone. We must find the strength to accept this objective reality. The international community does not want to be hostage to the unilateral decisions of former sovereigns," the Russian top diplomat stated.
South Africa took over the presidency of the G20 from Brazil on December 1, becoming the first African country to lead the group. The continent's inaugural two-day G20 meeting in Johannesburg kicked off on Thursday.
