Musk thus commented on a post by Charlie Kirk on the social network X, who called for an audit of the financial assistance allocated to Ukraine by the United States.
"Ok," Musk responded to Kirk.
Kirk is the founder of Turning Point USA, a national student movement dedicated to organizing young people to promote the principles of free markets and limited government.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump said he had not seen an accounting on where the "hundreds of billions" of dollars Washington spent to support Ukraine was going.
Furthermore, Musk said Volodymyr Zelensky cannot speak on behalf of the people of Ukraine until he agrees to hold elections and restores freedom of the press in his country.
Musk's remarks were in response to a post by the official White House account "Rapid Response 47" for combating disinformation on the social network X, which was dedicated to elections under martial law. As the post said, the elections in the United States were held during the civil war and World War II, so Zelensky should also hold elections in Ukraine.
"Zelensky cannot claim to represent the will of the people of Ukraine unless he restores freedom of the press and stops canceling elections!" Musk wrote on X.
Zelensky's presidential term expired on May 20, 2024. The presidential election in Ukraine was canceled due to martial law and general mobilization.
On Wednesday, Trump also criticized Zelensky for his unwillingness to hold elections, called him a "dictator," and also suggested that the Ukrainian leader wants to keep the "gravy train" going amid the grinding conflict with Russia. Trump also said Zelensky talked the US "into spending $350 Billion Dollars, to go into a War that couldn’t be won."
Moreover, Musk accused Zelensky of killing American journalist and blogger Gonzalo Lira, who earlier died in a Ukrainian prison.
"Zelensky killed an American journalist!" Musk wrote on X, commenting on a user's post about the death of Lira.
The user noted that Lira had been critical of Zelensky.
In June 2024, Russian President Vladimir Putin said the Ukrainian authorities had literally tortured Gonzalo Lira to death in prison.
