Since last Friday, heavy rains in Madagascar have led to a death toll of seven, the 2424.mg news portal reported, citing the country's National Office for Risk and Disaster Management.
About 7,239 people have been displaced and are staying in 18 sites, and additionally, 2,981 houses were flooded, while ten were destroyed and five were damaged, the report noted.
The total number of people affected by the disaster throughout the country has reached 13,159.
School classes in five districts in the central Analamanga region have been reportedly suspended until at least March 2 due to continued rain and rising water levels in low-lying areas.
