In January-October 2024, the volume of non-resource, non-energy exports from Moscow to sub-Saharan Africa increased by 52% compared to last year, said Moscow Government Minister and Head of the Moscow Department of Investment and Industrial Policy Anatoly Garbuzov.
He added that Moscow's main trading partners were Kenya, Nigeria, Tanzania, and South Africa.
"The interest of Moscow exporters in sub-Saharan Africa markets is growing rapidly: deliveries of chemical products, such as plastic products and polyethylene pipes, have increased fivefold, while exports of light industry goods – workwear, footwear, protective headwear– have increased sixfold. In addition, Moscow-made vaccines are in demand in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Nigeria, Chad, Niger, and Cameroon," Garbuzov said.
He added that the increase in Moscow's non-resource, non-energy exports to sub-Saharan Africa confirms the high potential for industrial cooperation between Moscow and the region.
In particular, Moscow's food industry supplies to sub-Saharan Africa have increased by more than 50%. Moscow-produced confectionery, broths, blanks, wheat flour, and soft drinks are in demand in Congo, South Africa, Benin, Senegal, and Cote d'Ivoire.
Exports of power engineering products – electric generators, statistical converters and hydraulic motors – also showed a 2.5-fold increase compared to last year. Guinea, Somalia, the Republic of Congo and Uganda were the main partners in this area.
Since 2019, the Mosprom center has been helping Moscow companies enter international markets. One of the most effective support tools is the buyer program, which gives businesses the opportunity to participate in foreign industry exhibitions and business missions. The program organizes B2B and B2G meetings with potential partners, which helps expand the geography of supplies, establish business contacts and attract investment. Thanks to such initiatives, Moscow enterprises strengthen their positions abroad and increase their export potential.
The Russian state also actively helps Moscow exporters. The national project "International Cooperation and Export" is a whole range of measures of information, financial, insurance and logistics support. The digital platform "My Export" operates within the framework of the national project, where entrepreneurs are provided with support. For example, there one can get free expert advice, analytics, help in promoting goods on international marketplaces, as well as take online training and much more.
