The US did not respond to South African requests to discuss US President Donald Trump's aid cuts, while China pledged support, South Africa's Foreign Minister Ronald Lamola said.
To bolster support, South Africa is holding bilateral discussions, including with China, which has expressed solidarity and offered assistance with trade relations, Lamola said.
Despite US objections due to disagreement with the G20 theme of "Solidarity, Equality, Sustainability," Lamola confirmed that the agenda for the upcoming G20 foreign ministers meeting in Johannesburg will remain unchanged, as it was previously agreed upon by all G20 nations.
Lamola stated that South Africa will continue seeking talks with the US, while preparing for all possibilities. He reiterated that South Africa's land reform policy and its ICJ genocide case against Israel are "non-negotiable."
