Russia in 2024 maintained the position of the world's second-largest gold producer with an output of about 330 tonnes, according to Sputnik calculations of government data.
Gold production increased by 5.3% in Russia in 2024, according to the Russian Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat).
Since 2022, Russia has not published absolute figures of gold production. In 2021, the country's Finance Ministry reported that primary production of the metal amounted to 313.8 tonnes.
Based on this data, it can be calculated that last year, gold production in Russia returned to growth and reached about 330 tonnes.
In 2024, China remained the world's largest gold producer with an output of 377 tonnes, an increase of 0.6% over the previous year. Australia finished in third place with an output of 290 tonnes, 2% less than the previous year, which was also the third consecutive year of production decline. Canada and the USA completed the top 5 with annual production of 200 tonnes (up 1%) and 160 tonnes (up 5.9%), respectively.
