Chadian President Mahamat Idriss Deby Itno expressed solidarity with the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), "following the worrying development of the situation" in the country.
"Chad calls for respect for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the DRC," the president wrote on his social networks.
The president emphasized that regional and international organizations, particularly the UN and the AU, should take action to "preserve peace and security in the DRC" and "ensure respect for international laws in this area."
The publication came as the M23 rebel group continued to advance in the east of the DRC, threatening the capital of South Kivu. Earlier, the rebels took control of Goma, capital of the North Kivu province.
