Nigerian politician Adamu Garba praised on Monday the proposed dismantling of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), calling it a positive move for Africa’s security and stability.
Garba, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, said that USAID has been fueling insurgencies in Africa by providing arms and support to terrorist organizations like Boko Haram and ISWAP*.
His remarks align with those of Elon Musk, head of the US Department of Government Efficiency, who labeled USAID a “criminal organization” and announced efforts to shut it down. Reports indicate that USAID employees are already being placed on leave, with some resignations at leadership levels.
Garba argued that USAID has functioned as a tool of unconventional warfare, allegedly aiding insurgent groups and destabilizing African nations. He urged northern Nigerian governors to take immediate action against non-governmental organizations operating in their states, insisting that shutting them down would cut off resources to militants and restore peace.
