Russian FM Lavrov Speaks at Inauguration of Department of Africa Partnership at Foreign Ministry

The new department will operate similarly to the currently existing Department of European Issues, engaging with regional organizations on the continent and addressing issues of interaction along the Russia-Africa line.

Sputnik Africa is broadcasting live as Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov participates in the presentation of the recently established Department of African Partnership within the structure of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
According to Maria Zakharova, the Russian Foreign Ministry's spokeswoman, attendees at the event include the heads of African diplomatic missions accredited in Moscow, ambassadors of friendly countries, representatives of Russia's federal executive bodies, business circles, relevant scientific and public organizations, and journalists.
A photo-documentary exhibition will also be showcased, featuring archives from the Russian Foreign Ministry and Russian information agencies. The exhibition will highlight the development of the African direction within the ministry and the historical and current cooperation between Russia and African states.
Additionally, according to the spokeswoman, the goals and objectives of this new department will be outlined during the event.
