Morocco is set to build a new drone factory, which will be constructed by Baykar, the Turkish manufacturer of Bayraktar TB2 attack and surveillance drones, according to the Official Gazette of the Cherifian Kingdom quoted by local media.
Located in Rabat, the factory will serve the Royal Armed Forces and also be able to sell some of its products to African markets.
The factory, named Atlas Defense, will focus on the following activities:
Design, manufacturing, and maintenance of drones;
Production of spare parts and defense technology systems.
Additionally, the Moroccan army has announced its intention to purchase Akinci drones, also manufactured by Baykar, by the end of 2025. Morocco already operates approximately twenty drones produced by the Turkish company.
