The video game sector in Africa is experiencing rapid growth in Africa, with revenues exceeding $1 billion in 2024, according to a report by the development studio Maliyo Games.
This growth is fueled by mobile games, which account for 90% of the market, due to:

Their low cost;
The high number of smartphones on the continent.
"Local studios like Maliyo Games, Kiro’o Games, and Nyamakop are creating culturally relevant content that appeals to African audiences while positioning themselves to compete globally," the report stated.
