IDF Confirms Troop Deployment in Buffer Zone Along Syrian Border

MOSCOW (Sputnik) - A number of other armed groups launched a large-scale operation against the Syrian government on November 29, advancing from Idlib towards the cities of Aleppo and Hama. A day later, Aleppo, Syria’s second-largest city, came under the complete control of the militants for the first time since 2011.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said on Sunday that it had deployed forces in the buffer zone on the border with Syria due to the threat of militant infiltration.
"In accordance with the situational assessment following the recent events in Syria, including the entry of armed personnel into the buffer zone, the IDF has deployed forces in the buffer zone and in several other places necessary for its defense, to ensure the safety of the communities of the Golan Heights and the citizens of Israel," the IDF said on Telegram.
The IDF added that it was not intervening in the internal affairs of Syria.
