Burkina Faso President Captain Ibrahim Traoré has dismissed Prime Minister Apollinaire Kyelem de Tambela and his entire government, according to a decree read on national television Friday evening.
While the ministers will remain in their posts temporarily to manage ongoing affairs, the move signals a significant shift in the country's leadership.
Apollinaire Kyelem de Tambela's tenure as the prime minister of Burkina Faso notably included advocating for a federation of Sahel states, a proposal that culminated in the formation of the Federation of Sahel States encompassing Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger.
The reasons behind the dismissal have not yet been officially stated. The appointment of a new government is expected in the coming days.
