Today, Chad celebrates the anniversary of the Proclamation of the Republic, commemorating the country becoming an autonomous republic within the greater French Community on November 28, 1958.
"May the celebration of this historic day contribute to promoting the achievements of independence, democracy and freedom, but also to consolidating national unity, social peace and solidarity among Chadians," Chadian President Mahamat Idriss Deby congratulated.
On this occasion, this Thursday is declared a public holiday across the entire country.
Chad obtained its independence on August 11, 1960.
