Namibia's presidential and National Assembly (the lower chamber of Namibia's parliament) elections have commenced on Wednesday with a smooth voting process, Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) chairperson Elsie Nghikembua said, as a local broadcaster NAMPA reported.
"Voting has started on time, and it is a very smooth process. It takes up to a maximum two minutes from the time you do the verification up to the time that you vote," Nghikembua noted.
Early voting reports from Khomas region Governor Laura McLeod-Katjirua also indicated efficient voting procedures, with minimal wait times, the broadcaster added.
"The voting process is smooth and quick; the officials are very helpful. I can't complain; I feel proud, I feel happy, I feel Namibian," McLeod-Katjirua said.
Polling stations are open from 7 am to 9 pm, with those in line at closing time still permitted to vote, the report emphasized.
