Madagascar Joins African Continental Free Trade Area

The African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) is a free trade agreement that includes most of Africa. It was established in 2018 and has 43 member states and 11 signatories, making it the largest free trade area in the world by number of member states, after the World Trade Organization.

Madagascar's National Assembly ratified the AfCFTA agreement on Monday, joining most African nations in creating the world's largest free trade area.
With a market of over 1.2 billion people and a combined GDP estimated at $2.5 trillion, this represents a significant trade opportunity with substantial economic benefits for its members, according to the Malagasy government.
