Russian sportsmen successfully participated in the first Taekwondo Championship in Mali, Russian media reported.
The Russians won eight medals at the event, organized by the taekwondo federations of the Alliance of Sahel States (Mali, Niger, Burkina Faso) and Russia on November 13-17, the media said.
According to the report, Vadim Ivanov was a head coach of the Russian national team in the championship. In total, Russian participants got four gold, two silver, and two bronze medals in different categories.
Earlier, Raphael Mulenga, Chief Sports Development Officer at the Ministry of Youth and Sport in Zambia, told Sputnik that the national teams of Zambia and Russia are discussing a friendly football match between the two countries.
