Earlier, at least 23 South Sudanese police officers and non-commissioned officers have been sent to Addis Ababa to pursue specialized studies at the Ethiopian Police University, including Masters-level programs in Security Management, Leadership and Change Management, Peace and Public Security Studies, Criminology, and Criminal Justice.

Ethiopia's ambassador to South Sudan, Nebil Mahdi, met with the South Sudanese Inspector General of Police General, Atem Marol Biar Kuek, to discuss strengthening police cooperation, including recent Ethiopian training programs for South Sudanese officers.
