Kiev's outrage over ECOWAS Commissioner Abdel-Fatau Musah's recent remarks, labeling Ukrainian actions in Donbass as genocide, will not have a major impact, David Melvin Eboutou told Sputnik Africa, noting that Ukraine is of no particular value to Africa; it's quite the opposite.
"It is rather Ukraine that needs Africa in its strategic repositioning, its quest for raw materials and its advance in terms of influence," the analyst noted.
According to him, it is essential to better understand Abdel-Fatau Musah's positioning in the context of Moscow's cultural reappropriation that irritates Ukraine, "which has no right to claim certain territories of Donbass."
Commenting on the rapprochement between Africa and Russia, the analyst stated that African countries, which wish to get out of Western "paternalism and asymmetrical relations" are turning to Russia, the bearer of "inclusive multilateralism."
Africa appears to have chosen to support Russia, seeing it as a key player in reshaping the global geopolitical landscape, the expert concluded.
