The United Nations Economic Commission for Africa is currently in talks with Russia's Positive Technologies company on the establishment of a cybersecurity center in the Togolese Republic, the chief of the innovation and technology sector at the UN Economic Commission for Africa, Moctar Seck, told Sputnik.
"And for Positive Technologies, we are in discussion now … As you know, we are establishing now in Togo a center of cybersecurity in Africa. And Positive Technologies will be a good partner for us in the development of this center," Seck said on the sidelines of the first ministerial conference of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum.
The launch is expected to take place next year, the UN official added.
"We have several areas of priority on the continent in digital technology advancement, in terms of policy development, cybersecurity, capacity building, AI, data sharing, and also the issue of digital literacy. And also, in the e-government, we have several areas," Seck also said.
And the objective of the initiative is to see what kind of collaboration African countries can put in place with Russian companies or the Russian government to achieve their development goals, he added.
