Uganda sees US President-elect Donald Trump's forthrightness in outlining his policy stance as a positive trait, Ugandan Foreign Minister Jeje Odongo told Sputnik.
"I believe that Trump will not pursue the policies that the Democrats advocate for. While we may not always agree with Trump, we appreciate his forthrightness. He openly expresses his position, which allows us to clearly understand our position. We consider this a positive trait," Odongo said on the sidelines of the first ministerial conference of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum.
Trump, who had already served as the US president from 2017-2021, won the presidential election that took place on November 5. He became the first US leader since the 19th century to return to the White House after a four-year hiatus. Democratic candidate Kamala Harris conceded defeat in an address to supporters.
The Electoral College will vote on December 17, in accordance with the will of the voters. The new Congress will approve the results of this vote on January 6. The presidential inauguration will take place on January 20.
