Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Ethiopian Foreign Minister Gedion Timothewos discussed issues of deepening the two countries' coordination in BRICS and the UN during talks on the sidelines of the First Ministerial Conference of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported.
"During the conversation, the main areas for further expansion of mutually beneficial Russian-Ethiopian cooperation were discussed in detail, including the expansion of trade, economic, scientific, technical and humanitarian ties. At the same time, Moscow and Addis Ababa's focus on deepening political dialogue and closely coordinating approaches in BRICS and the UN on key issues on the international agenda was confirmed," the ministry stated.
On the sidelines of the Russia-Africa Ministerial Meeting in Sochi, Lavrov has already held bilateral talks with the Foreign Ministers of the Central African Republic, Rwanda, Algeria, Cameroon, Uganda, Mali, Namibia, Equatorial Guinea, Burundi, Guinea, the Republic of the Congo, Togo, and Ethiopia.
