Benin brought back katakle, a ceremonial royal stool of the 17th century, the country's government said in a statement. The return of the artifact took place during the meeting of Beninese and Finnish foreign ministers in Helsinki.
"As a sign of this renewed cooperation, Olushegun Adjadi Bakari expressed his gratitude to the National Museum of Finland for the initiative to return the Royal Katakle Stool, the twenty-seventh piece of the Royal treasures," the government said.
The National Museum of Finland that returned the ceremonial stool noted in a statement that it obtained the Beninese artifacts during the exchange with the French Musée de l’Homme in the 20th century.
