US Vice President and Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris has so far refused to be interviewed by Bloomberg about her plans for US economic policy should she be elected as president, Bloomberg editor-in-chief John Micklethwait said on Tuesday.
"The first is just for the record, and for those people watching on television, the Economic Club of Chicago and Bloomberg both invited Vice President Harris to a similar interview about her economic plans; she has declined so far," Micklethwait said ahead of his interview with US presidential candidate Donald Trump.
The Economic Club of Chicago is a nonpartisan organization aimed at encouraging dialogue among US political leaders, established in 1927.
Kamala Harris and her Republican rival Donald Trump are locked in a tight presidential race with three weeks remaining until election day, and the average lead in seven potentially decisive battleground states is under 1%, reports said earlier in the day.
Harris leads by 1.7% nationally (49.1% - 47.4%), according to the average of the ten most recent polls posted by Real Clear Politics (RCP). The RCP average at this point of the 2020 presidential race had Democratic nominee Joe Biden up by 9.2%, and in 2016, Hillary Clinton led by 6.7%.
