IDF Says One Soldier Killed, Two Injured in Combat

MOSCOW (Sputnik) - Last Monday, Israel began a limited ground operation in southern Lebanon. Tensions on the Israeli-Lebanese border have escalated since Israel's military action in Gaza started last October, resulting in almost daily exchanges of fire between Israeli forces and Hezbollah.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported on Tuesday the loss of one soldier and the injury of two others in the course of military operations in southern Lebanon and the Gaza Strip.
"In the incident where Staff Sergeant Noam Israel Abdu was killed, a soldier from the 17th Battalion (Infantry Corps squad commanders training), Bislamach Brigade, was severely injured. In an additional incident, a soldier from the 7012th Battalion, 3rd Brigade, was severely injured during combat in southern Lebanon. The soldiers were evacuated to a hospital for further treatment. Their families have been notified," the IDF said on Telegram.
The IDF added that the staff sergeant was killed in northern Gaza.
