MOSCOW (Sputnik) - On Tuesday, Iran fired some 400 ballistic missiles into southern and central Israel, the Jerusalem Post reported. In an official statement, Iran's IRGC stated the attack is a response to Israel's killing of chairman of the Hamas Political Bureau, Ismail Haniyeh, Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah.

France demands that Israel end its military operations in Lebanon and the Gaza Strip as soon as possible, the office of French President Emmanuel Macron said.

"He [Macron] demanded that Israel end its military operations as soon as possible," the office said in a statement.

France will soon organize a conference to help the people of Lebanon and the country's fundamental institutions, the statement added.

Paris also wants Lebanon's territorial integrity to be restored in strict compliance with UN Security Council Resolution 1701, the statement noted.
