Eurasian Women's Forum Highlights Pt. 2: Secret of Women Uncovered!

Whilst preserving traditional values is essential, it is equally important to "preserve those roles and values that do not have a negative impact on women," according to Sindisiwe Chikunga, Minister of Women, Youth, and Persons with Disabilities of South Africa.

"Anything that undermines a woman cannot be preserved. It has to be changed because there isn't any culture that is static. Cultures do change; they evolve," the minister says.

This year's Eurasian Women's Forum was honored to receive the Namibian delegation for the first time.

"When we came, we could feel it clearly that we are not somewhere else, but this is our brothers' and sisters' house," Victoria Kauma, Vice Chairperson of the National Council of Namibia, says.

Kauma details out that the forum is a good opportunity "to see how we can contribute to and encourage ourselves as Namibians to work hard."

On a darker note, as women from across the globe discussed relevant topics, the European Parliament voted in favor of Ukraine being allowed to strike deep into Russian territory.

"They are not serious. Those people who allow Ukraine to attack Russia, they are not really serious. It’s a lip service. You cannot allow and assist a certain country to attack another country and not expect another country to defend itself," Loide Kasingo, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Namibia, comments on the decision.

The finale of the forum was described as "emotional" as it was an opportunity to "meet the women who are trying to uplift the standards of living of women and also to make the women feel that we can also do it," according to Mabel Chinomona, President of the Senate of Zimbabwe.

"We are our own liberators. The men are not prepared to give it to us on a silver plate. If we are given a chance, we can do it," Chinomona concludes.
