Russia will support the legitimate aspirations of India, Brazil, and an African country to join the UN Security Council as permanent members, said Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov ahead of his participation in the 79th session of the UN General Assembly.
"Developing countries are underrepresented in the Security Council, so we, as we have always said, support the interest and the legitimate aspiration of India and Brazil to have a seat on the Security Council," Sergey Lavrov said.
Lavrov also said that Russia respects Africa's collective positions and believes that Africa's aspirations for a permanent seat must be met.
