Russia's Special Operation in Ukraine

Russia Has No Alternative to Victory in Ukraine Conflict, Kremlin States

MOSCOW (Sputnik) - Russia has no alternative to achieving victory in its military operation in Ukraine, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

"For Russia, there have been no other alternatives in history, and there is no alternative to our victory now," Peskov said in an interview with Russian journalist Pavel Zarubin published on his Telegram channel.
Russia should regard the West's stance seriously, given its intentions to defeat the country both "strategically and tactically," the spokesman added.

"They openly say that their goal is to defeat Russia strategically and tactically. This obliges us to take this position very seriously, to shape our actions in consideration of this threat, and to continue the special military operation in order to achieve all our goals, fulfill all set objectives, and achieve victory ourselves," Peskov said.

There are some "sober minds" left in the West who thoroughly analyze Russian President Vladimir Putin's warnings, the spokesman said, commenting on the reaction of some Western politicians, including outgoing NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, to Putin's statement on potential consequences for Western states that engaged in the conflict.
Putin warned that direct participation of Western countries in the Ukrainian conflict, including by lifting restrictions on using West-supplied weapons to strike deep into Russia, would change the nature of the conflict and force Russia to respond to emerging threats.
In mid-September, Stoltenberg said that NATO had the right to support Ukraine without becoming a party to the conflict, adding that the alliance did not regard Iran or North Korea, which are supplying weapons to Russia, as parties to the conflict. Stoltenberg reiterated that Putin’s nuclear threats were "reckless" and that "a nuclear war cannot be won and should never be fought."
