Africa is a dynamically developing region; therefore, Russia is interested, among other things, in expanding trade and economic ties with the countries of the continent, the ministry reports.
"Africa is a very promising, potentially very dynamically developing region - both in terms of population and economic development," Dmitry Birichevsky, Director of the Department of Economic Cooperation of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, told Russian media.
Birichevsky highlighted Africa's demand for its own value-added goods production, emphasizing the need for investment in processing and production. He stressed Russia's willingness to collaborate, citing interest from Russian companies, particularly in the food sector.
While acknowledging some transactional challenges, the diplomat also noted the growing presence of Russian companies in Africa, indicating a clear trend towards entering the African market.
Birichevsky announced the first-ever Russia-Africa foreign ministerial meeting in Sochi this November, emphasizing the inclusion of business delegations, which means a focus not only on political dialogue but also on trade and economic cooperation between Russia and Africa.
