Following talks in Beijing between Chinese President Xi Jinping and South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, the two countries issued a joint statement, where they urged all parties involved in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine to adhere to three principles: preventing the expansion of the conflict, de-escalating hostilities, and refraining from actions that could worsen the situation.
As a result of the talks, both presidents also agreed to elevate the partnership between China and South Africa to "All-Round Strategic Cooperative Partnership in a New Era."
Ramaphosa will take part in the China-Africa Summit in Beijing on September 4.
