China Ready to Work With Africa to Protect Interests of Developing Countries, Xi Jinping Says

BEIJING (Sputnik) - The 2024 Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation is scheduled for September 4-6 in Beijing.

Beijing is willing to promote China-Africa cooperation and jointly protect the interests of developing countries with African countries, Chinese leader Xi Jinping said during his meeting with Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) President Felix Tshisekedi on Monday.
"China is ready to use the historic opportunity to work with the Democratic Republic of the Congo to cement mutual strategic trust, facilitate mutually beneficial cooperation, and jointly promote China-Africa cooperation, protect the mutual interests of developing countries, and contribute to the Global South's strife towards peace and development amid major global changes," Xi was quoted as saying by the China Central Television.
China supports the DRC in the protection of national sovereignty and on the path of independent development, the Chinese leader added.
At the upcoming China-Africa summit, China and Africa will determine the new positioning of China-Africa relations and will announce several important measures towards joint contribution to modernization, Xi also said, adding that they will also work together on developing a new plan for the countries' ties.
