President Mokgweetsi Masisi of Botswana has officially launched the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) manifesto, laying out his vision for the country ahead of the upcoming general election, expected in October.
In his manifesto, President Masisi emphasizes his commitment to creating a thriving Botswana for all citizens, promising an economy that works for everyone, fair wages, and a strong rule of law. The BDP pledged to focus on creating jobs, strengthening financial systems, and upholding democracy.
"I offer a promise... by voting for the BDP, you are selecting a vision of hope," he told a rally of supporters on Sunday.
Masisi highlighted the party's achievements in mineral beneficiation, including partnerships with diamond processing companies and renegotiations of the country's share in diamond mines developed by the South African-British diamond company De Beers.
"Our brightest years are yet to come," Masisi told the crowd. "We pursued with vigour mineral beneficiation, we created partnerships with companies for diamond processing, and we renegotiated with De Beers."
