Eight Critically Injured in Ukrainian Shelling of Russia's Belgorod Region, Minister Says

BELGOROD (Sputnik) - The shelling of the settlement of Rakitnoe in the western Russian region of Belgorod left eight people seriously injured on Sunday night, with six in intensive care, the regional health minister said.

"A total of 13 people were injured, two of whom are undergoing outpatient treatment. Medical assistance was provided on-site, and they were sent to clinics at their place of residence. 11 people are in hospitals in the city of Belgorod, with eight adults treated in city hospital No. 2 and the regional clinical hospital. All are in critical condition, including six in intensive care," Andrei Ikonnikov said in a video on Telegram.

Three children were admitted to a regional pediatric hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Belgorod Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said that Ukrainian troops had struck Rakitnoe on Sunday night. The Russian Investigative Committee said that it was treating the attack, which left five civilians dead, and 13 others injured, as an act of terrorism.
