Russia will monitor the reaction of international organizations to the arrest of Telegram founder and CEO Pavel Durov, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Sunday.
"We will factor the behavior and reactions of international organizations, which in other cases have piled political, informational and psychological pressure on our country, in our work. We really want to see, and we will monitor what kind of vigilance they will show in protecting human rights and freedom of speech," Zakharova told the Rossiya 24 broadcaster.
When asked whether Moscow would turn to international organizations if Durov's detention were to be prolonged, Zakharova said that his lawyers should discuss the necessary steps.
