Since August 14, delegations from Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Switzerland, the United States, the African Union, and the UN have been participating in Geneva talks aimed at improving humanitarian access in Sudan. Both sides of the conflict were invited, but only the Rapid Support Forces sent a delegation. The Sudanese armed forces participated in the talks remotely.
"The delegations secured guarantees from both conflicting parties to ensure safe and unhindered humanitarian access through two key routes: the western border crossing at Adre in Darfur and the Dabba road, which connects the north and west from Port Sudan," the communique read.
Trucks carrying humanitarian aid are already en route to assist the starving in Darfur, it added.
