Tour traffic between Moscow and Dodoma may increase in the near future due to regular requests from representatives of the tourism business on both sides. The Tanzanians want to return their resorts to the list of favorite destinations for Russians, Ambassador to Tanzania Andrey Avetisyan said in an interview with Sputnik.
"Taking into account the air service agreement signed in June and regular requests from representatives of the tourism industry on both sides, we can confidently talk about a possible increase in tourist traffic in the near future," Avetisian said.
Asked about the date of the launch of direct flights between the two countries, the ambassador noted that it is premature to name it now, as it depends on a number of factors, first of all on the plans of the airlines.

According to Avetisian, the growth of tourist traffic will be facilitated by the work of the Russian payment system, MIR cards, on the territory of this African country.
"Tanzanians well remember the high rates of visits to Zanzibar by tourists from Russia during the pandemic period and would like, if possible, to return their resorts to the number of favorite holiday destinations for Russians. The possibility of cashless payment for goods and services will contribute to this, and the Tanzanians understand this," he said.
The diplomat emphasized that negotiations on this issue are being conducted by the central banks of the countries with the participation of the Russian embassy, but it is not necessary to forecast the timeframe for their completion.
