Russian Ambassador to Tehran to Sputnik: West Not Ready to Seek Compromise With Iran

TEHRAN (Sputnik) - The US has steadily stepped up its sanctions campaign against Iran, targeting various entities and individuals. This is part of a broader strategy to exert pressure on Iran, affecting diverse sectors including petrochemicals, technology, and even cyber-related areas.

Western countries are not ready to seek a compromise with Iran, Russian Ambassador to the country Alexey Dedov said in an interview with Sputnik.

"Their [Europeans'] recent steps - the adoption of an anti-Iran statement at the session of the IAEA Board of Governors - indicate that the West is not ready to seek a compromise with Iran... It is not Iran; it is the West that is not ready for a serious conversation with Iran on the issue of normalizing relations," Dedov said.

Moreover, the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) sees overt attempts by the West to destabilize the situation in the Caucasus and Iran, according to Viktor Vasilyev, Russia's permanent representative to the CSTO.
“A difficult situation is also developing in the Caucasus region, where we also see overt attempts by Western countries to destabilize the situation,” Vasilyev told Sputnik.
In addition, Western countries are trying to interfere in the state of affairs in countries neighboring Armenia, which also worries the CSTO. If the situation in these countries destabilizes, this will become one of the security threats for all CSTO member states, he said.
“These attempts are visible and obvious, including in relation to neighboring Iran. Naturally, if the situation in the Caucasus destabilizes, this will be one of the real security threats for all CSTO member states,” Vasilyev said.
