Britain's Downing Street Chief Mouser, Larry the Cat, left a "gift" in the shoe of British Prime Minister and Conservative Party Leader Rishi Sunak for the sake of "old times."
"Just left a crap in Sunak's shoe, for old times' sake...," the famous working-class hero said on its X page.
On Friday, UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced that he resigned as leader of the UK Conservative Party following its defeat in the parliamentary elections.
"I have given this job my all... Following this [election] result, I will step down as party leader not immediately, but once the formal arrangements for selecting my successor are in place," Sunak said in a resignation speech.
While the leader of the victorious Labor Party had not yet been appointed to a high position by King Charles III, the cat managed to attempt a coup. Not technically, though.
The unsinkable cat has already pleased his fans and onlookers with the fact that the new Prime Minister has kept Larry in his new cabinet.
Elections to the parliament of the United Kingdom took place on Thursday, with the Labour Party winning a landslide victory. The Labour Party has so far won 412 seats in the 650-seat House of Commons after votes have been processed in 647 constituencies out of 650, Sky News reported. This is the most seats won by Labour since 1997, when Tony Blair became prime minister.
The leader of the party that wins the general election becomes the country's prime minister and forms a new government. Labour's victory will end the 14-year rule of the Tories.
Larry the Cat, adopted from a shelter, has served at the residence of the British Prime Minister since 2011. Cats have been living in the residences of British rulers since the 15th century.
Since 1929, they have had official status and a salary of £100 per year. The most famous of them in the 20th century was the cat Humphrey, who acted as a mousetrap under Margaret Thatcher, John Major, and Tony Blair. Humphrey the cat passed away in 2008, when he was about 18 years old.
