Russian Air Defenses Down 50 Ukrainian Drones Overnight, Defense Ministry Says

MOSCOW (Sputnik) - Krasnodar's Governor, Veniamin Kondratyev, said on Friday that six people, including two children, were taken to hospitals after the Ukrainian armed forces carried out a drone attack on the port town of Primorsko-Akhtarsk. Later, a six-year-old girl died in a hospital due to injuries.

Russia's air defenses destroyed and suppressed 50 Ukrainian drones over three Russian regions overnight, the Defense Ministry said in a statement.

“During the past night, when the Kiev regime attempted to carry out terrorist attacks using aircraft-type unmanned aerial vehicles on the territory of the Russian Federation, air defense systems on duty destroyed 14 UAVs over the Krasnodar Territory, 26 UAVs over the Zaporozhye Region, and also destroyed and suppressed 10 UAVs over the Rostov Region," the ministry said.

Russia has been conducting a special military operation in Ukraine since February 24, 2022. President Vladimir Putin has said the operation aims to "protect people subjected to genocide by the Kiev regime for eight years." According to the president, the ultimate goal of the operation is to liberate Donbas and create conditions that guarantee Russia's security.
